I recently co-hosted a baby shower for my friend who is expecting her first baby. A little girl! My mom did the food and I was in charge of the decorations and games. While I think the food is very important at an event such as a shower, I seem to always fall apart in that area. I just get too busy making banners and brainstorming cute games. You know how that goes. Our chosen theme was Sugar & Spice. This theme is a lot of fun to work with. Unfortunately, I didn’t get great photos as I was too busy setting everything up and then playing hostess. Here is what I do have.
Cute diaper cake for a new baby girl.
I didn’t take any pics of the food before we dug in 😦
We hung a Sugar & Spice banner over the food table and put the sweets under sugar and the spicy under spice. Our menu was chocolate fondue with fruit, marshmallows, and angel food cake for dipping. Chocolate covered pretzel rods, and homemade cupcakes (with the most delicious homemade frosting I have ever tasted) instead of traditional cake for the sweet side. The spicy side was chips and salsa, artichoke dip, spiced nuts and homemade ginger snap cookies.
We served the food on vintage glass luncheon trays and the ladies sipped homemade strawberry lemonade out of the matching cups. I collect these just for occasions such as this. They are so cute and so green! 🙂

The guests were invited to write a bit of wisdom onto one of these tags and the mommy-to-be read them out loud at the end of the shower.
A little tip on the invitations. I am not a big fan of store bought invites. They are cute, but I like a more personal look. After shopping and comparing prices, I was able to buy a box invitation set that we printed ourselves. These proved to be cheaper than buying the number we needed in a fill in the blank invite! I wish I had a picture since I think they turned out adorable. They were 5×7 with a ribbon tied on the top and a tag hanging on the ribbon which said Sugar & Spice to share the theme with the guests. The invitaitons were made to be used as baby announcements, but since you print them yourself you can use them for birthday parties, showers, or any other type of event.
I love baby showers! Thanks for letting me share the details with you.
